Hearing Aids
An Overview of Hearing Aids
At Hear For Life Audiology, we fit a number of hearing aid types and styles. We are proud to offer models from the top manufacturers and help you to select the devices that are right for you. Read below for more information about hearing aids and their capabilities.
Modern Hearing Aid Features
Hearing aids are small, electronic devices that are worn to help a person hear and understand speech better. These sophisticated devices have come a long way in their development and now have modern features, including:
Bluetooth Connectivity
Most hearing aids today have bluetooth technology and can connect to other bluetooth-enabled products. This allows hearing aid users to stream audio from phone calls, music programs, podcasting apps and more.
Rechargeable Batteries
Fumbling with disposable batteries has long been a concern for hearing aid wearers. In addition to the expense, the burden of having to carry them around and change them out regularly has been difficult for some. Today's new lithium-ion rechargeable hearing aids are much more convenient, giving patients a full day of power while allowing them to recharge overnight.
Telehealth (remote programming)
It is now possible for many hearing aid users to have their hearing aids reprogrammed from the comfort of their homes. This is very convenient for those that live far away, are traveling or might not be feeling well due to illness. Remote programming is usually done through a smartphone app developed by your hearing aid manufacturer. Depending on what hearing aids you have, it can be a live session, or it can merely be settings uploaded to your hearing aid.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Today's hearing aids collect a lot of data about the environments that people are in and the adjustments made by the user. Some of the top hearing aids brands, like Starkey and Widex, are using this data to adapt the hearing aids settings and improve them for each user. These features allow for a more personalized and refined sound, helping wearers hear in a wide variety of listening environments.
"I'd almost given up on hearing aids but based upon a recommendation from my primary care physician, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Cameron at Hear For Life Audiology on Bainbridge Island... These hearing aids have enhanced the quality of my life immeasurably. Camron is the penultimate professional. He is knowledgable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and thorough. I also want to thank Sarah, office manager, for her high level of professionalism as well. If I could award Hear For Life Audiology 10 stars I would!" - Google review
